We have lately heard about severalaccidents where the rope has been cut of completely by carabiners which throughextensive usage have gotten very sharp edges. Imagine a fixed quickdraw under aroof that is pulled out when the climber is falling higher up or is lowereddown. Black Diamond has produced andarticle with a mind blowing picture for potential death trap carabiners. Someweeks ago, I climber was killed due to a cut rope under a roof in Switzerland.

It should also been mentioned that this ofcourse also can happen when a carabiner is sideways creating a bad angle forthe carabiner. The chance for a roped being cut is also greater for an old one.
